Tofas Fiat manufactured a total of 312,000 vehicles in 2010, or 28.5% of the automotive sector’s total, to become Turkey’s largest automobile and light commercial vehicle manufacturer. Exports totaled 2.3 billion $, or 25.6% of total Turkish automotive exports in 2010. Tofas Fiat exported 193,741 vehicles, making it the second largest automotive exporter in terms of units. In 2010, Tofas Fiat boosted domestic and exports sales by 25% to post revenues of 6.4 billion TL. This makes the company the first among a limited number of automotive manufacturers that demonstrated profitable growth. Tofas Fiat’s domestic sales rose 44% in 2010, outstripping overall market growth of 36.6%. The company sold nearly 110,000 Fiat passenger and light commercial vehicles to give the Fiat brand its best performance ever in Turkey. Internationally Turkey ranked third place behind Brazil and Italy in Fiat sales and second in Europe, outperforming France and Germany. More than 85% of Tofas Fiat sales in 2010 were models manufactured at its plant in Bursa. Among global brands that manufacture in Turkey, once again Tofas Fiat is the top performer in terms of the ratio of local production to total sales.
