Hayat Energy and ICRON for a Blue Planet
Amsterdam, 17 February 2016. At Hayat Kimya’s three paper & pulp and hygienic products production facilities, the energy demand was very expensive to meet. At the same time they were producing so much hot water and steam that evaporated into thin air.
The challenge for Hayat Energy was to create an integrated plan for both paper and renewable energy production. Using ICRON’s platform for advanced planning, scheduling and optimization, Hayat Kimya now has detailed management of the highly complex relationship between demand and recaptured energy. Up-to-the-minute visibility allows for the right buy/produce decisions taking into consideration all factors such as weather conditions and grid prices. The result is great economic savings in operations, reduced impact on the environment, and satisfied customers.
Ahmet Nezir Işıklar, CEO of Hayat Energy, has pioneered renewable energy production at Petkim Petrochemical Complex, AKSA Chemical Processes and at several facilities of Hayat Holding. Before implementing the platform from ICRON for energy planning, scheduling and optimization, fluctuations in energy supply and demand could not be predicted with a high degree of accuracy. “Looking at the energy loads observed elsewhere in the market, our project is more complex”, states Mr. Işıklar. “Yet, using the dynamic capacity planning tools from ICRON we now have accurate predictions that we need for deciding when to store energy or purchase from the grid. In the end, we could calculate the economics for the amount of energy saved per product produced.”
The consultants from of ICRON started by analyzing the energy wasted in production. They created Energy Value Maps to determine the needs and scenarios of future energy usage. Continuous efficiency development was provided by their platform: Demand Site Management for fluctuating demands; Dynamic Demand Forecasting for multi-site processing; Capacity Planning under constraints for detailed scheduling of energy loads; Advanced Planning with detailed constraints for integrating the production plans with energy conversion; and, Buy or Produce plans.
